Why Use a Commercial Food Dehydrator?
Compared to using a traditional oven for drying out foods that can be timely, expensive to run and limited in size, Commercial Food Dehydrators are digitally controlled state-of-the-art stainless-steel units that efficiently dry out a full spectrum of food items - including fruit and veggies, meat, fish, poultry and jerky, dog treats, herbs and spices, dried flowers, yoghurt and so much more.
Selecting the best Dehydrator for your business and lifestyle
Choosing the best food dehydrator is a complex decision and there are several factors to consider including quantity, size, the types of food or produce you are hydrating, and the floor space you have in your kitchen or business to install a Commercial Food Dehydrator.
It’s important to do your research and evaluate which Commercial Dehydrator will work best for your business now and into the future.
Vitality 4 Life and BioChef have over 25 years of expertise in the living food industry. Our products are made of stainless steel, are seamless to operate, excel in design and functionality and are value for money - all complemented by Vitality 4 Life’s unparalleled A-Z support and generous warranty times.
Our BioChef Commercial Food Dehydrators are thermostatically controlled stainless steel ‘ovens’ fitted out with fans to evenly distribute heated air over the trays of ingredients. The temperature is controlled so it does not ‘cook’ the food or reduce its nutritional value.
Instead, by eliminating much of the moisture content in the food, which can often be the place where unhealthy microorganisms grow, commercial dehydrators both increase the shelf-life and keep the nutrient content high in the food.

Who can benefit from a Commercial Food Dehydrator?
Commercial food dehydrators are used by food processing and manufacturing industries, farmers and growers, pet food industries, manufacturers of survival, hiking and camping meals, cafes and restaurants.
This preservation process also allows you to take advantage of the lower cost and abundance of seasonal foods and make them available at a later date when produce availability is lower and costs are higher.
A commercial dehydrator is an excellent way to take advantage of Mother Nature’s abundance.
History of Commercial Food Dehydrators
For thousands of years our ancestors have used ‘air’, ‘salt’, ‘smoke’ or ‘sun’ to dry foods so they could take advantage of the seasonal availability of produce, good crops, or abundant fishing and hunting expeditions.
It was a hit or miss affair and often weather dependent. These techniques were in use until the nineteenth century when modern science began to explore other ways to preserve our foods.
Today you can take advantage of the same simple food preserving principles with the modern twist of commercial food dehydrators, knowing that you also meet food health and safety requirements.

How it Works
Simply put, prepared food is placed onto the supplied trays and placed into the dehydrator where the moisture content is gently removed without extracting essential vitamins and minerals.
The dehydrators are built with a thermostatically controlled heating element that evenly evaporates the water content of the food without ‘cooking’ it.
Fans and vents direct hot air evenly over the prepared foods that speeds up both the surface evaporation of moisture as well as causing internal moisture to be dehydrated from within the food.
This process continues until most or all moisture is removed - resulting in the dried produce. The drying time varies depending on the specific items as some have a higher moisture content then others.
There are several more reasons why choosing Vitality 4 Life Commercial Dehydrators will improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of creating dehydrated products for your business.
These include: Stainless Steel Unlike many models in the market, Vitality 4 Life Commercial Food Dehydrators are made from full stainless steel.
You not only reduce the risk of harmful chemicals from materials like plastic being released into the food, but stainless steel is more robust, easier to clean and lasts longer.

BioChef commercial dehydrators are made with a superior airflow system that provides consistent and even drying of food.
Temperature and Timers
Flexibility is key in our range of commercial products. All our dehydrators have a 24 hour digital timer with auto shut-off so you don’t need to be on-site to turn on or off the dehydrator, helping to minimise operating costs with maximum output.
The units have a temperature range of 30-90C allowing for greater versatility of applications from drying herbs to making beef jerky or fruit leathers.
Size & Capacity
Vitality 4 Life offers an outstanding range of commercial dehydrator sizes. From the small 10 tray unit (1.5sq metres of drying capacity) to the larger 60 tray unit (9.1sq metres) with three separate drying zones, there is a dehydrator that will best serve your business requirements now and into the future.
